Stafford County, Virginia (139,992), a growing community located midway between Washington, DC and Richmond, the capital of Virginia along I-95, invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Deputy County Administrator.
Stafford County government operates with a seven (7) member elected Board of Supervisors and appointed County Administrator. The Deputy County Administrator reports directly to the County Administrator and serves as an integral player in the County’s senior leadership team. The County is operating with a Fiscal Year 2017 general fund budget of $275.3 million and is supported by over 800 staff members. Stafford has long been recognized for its sound financial management practices and boasts a ‘AAA’ bond rating.
The salary for the position is negotiable dependent upon the individual’s qualifications and experience. Successful candidates will possess bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, economics, planning, engineering or a related field with a master’s degree desirable. In addition, a minimum of five (5) to nine (9) years of public or private sector management experience as a chief or deputy chief administrative officer of a comparably sized community or organization is required. Past experience should demonstrate familiarity in a broad range of local government operations ranging from public works and utilities to parks and recreation and economic development. Candidates should hold experience working in a fast-paced growing community or organization and have success in balancing a wide range of services related to supporting an increasing industrial, commercial and residential presence.
